On the heels of helming The Flash, prolific director Kevin Smith is set to direct an episode of Supergirl in season 2, The CW announced at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Thursday.

For The Flash, Smith directed the season 2 episode “The Runaway Dinosaur,” in which Barry (Grant Gustin) was trapped within the Speed Force. (Read all about the experience here.) He’s slated to return to direct one episode in season 3.

Smith has a long history of involvement with superhero projects, from writing comic book titles for both DC and Marvel to penning a version of the script for the ill-fated Nicolas Cage film Superman Lives. Smith also created a new quasi-superhero film, Yoga Hosers, for his aptly named daughter Harley Quinn, Johnny Depp, and Depp’s daughter, Lily-Rose Depp. Oh, and he also provided the voice of several animated superhero characters, including Hal Jordan in the Duck Dodgers cartoon and M.O.D.O.K for The Marvel Experience, as well as appearing as forensic assistant Jack Kirby in Ben Affleck’s Daredevilfilm. Not to mention, Smith has his own AMC reality series, Comic Book Men, which is set at his New Jersey-based comic book store.

Supergirl returns Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
